Digging History

Expanding on previous research at the City of Savannah Municipal Archives, Mark O’Dell transcribed over 4,000 cash book entries from the years 1806-1866. The city government’s reliance on the institution of slavery during the Antebellum period was evident through the multiple public works projects and ongoing city maintenance.
